Best. Game. EVER.

Rachel and Pete were changing the bedsheets the other day (which, by the way, was more than overdue) and accidentally discovered the most fun game IN THE WORLD. Unfortunately the video quality is a bit rubbish, but time waits for no man! (and no woman and her fancy video camera either).

One bit of advice though, don't do this the day before you get sick and have to spend the whole day in bed, because your cats will spend the said day skidding around you as you attempt to get some sleep...

Play Time!

It's a shame that the holidays are over. Rachel is working hard in her new job, and Pete is busy too. We have got a temporary housemate in the shape of Rachel's brother, which means there's one extra person to play with, but we still have to entertain ourselves at times.

Here I am trying to choose which of my favourite toys to play with. From left to right... our tunnel, the little bunny, a crocheted mouse, a catnip mouse (both mice were made by Rachel), the rattly feather ball, and another random catnip thing that isn't one of my favourites but somehow made it into the shot... All our other toys are in the blue bucket.

Where should I start?

Now the rattly ball thing is great fun. It makes a great noise as I bat it around (until it rolls under the sofa...) but the best bit is the feathers on the top. I luuurrrrve licking them!

schlurp schlurp...

Although, you do have to be careful, because sometimes I lick the feathers so much that they come out, and Rachel has to chase me around to pull them out of my mouth before I eat them...

nom nom, birdy!

The catnip mouse is great for kicking. Rachel says she sews them twice so I don't immediately destroy them.

grr... why you little...

But I do adore the little bunny. When you pull his tail, he vibrates! Lila's scared of him, but I love giving him a cuddle.

I wuv you Mr Bunny!

Ooh I can't decide!!

Too much choice!

Tell you what, why don't you just give me a tummy tickle instead!!

Box III

It's been a while since we've had a Box to play with. This latest one came with a new move-cat-hair-around-the-floor machine; although as an aside, we were very disappointed to see that this machine is more of an actually-sucks-hair-up-quite-effectively machine, which is a bit rubbish. We shall obviously have to double our rolling on the floor efforts to ensure the carpet is always adequately coated with fur.

Anyway ... so this Box appeared in the lounge, and it's really an excellent box. It's just the right size for ONE cat to sleep in.

Boxthree2

Mia, it's PLENTY big enough for one cat. There's no need to be so overdramatic!

Boxthree1

There are these handy holes to poke the sleeping cat through, if you happen to be the cat NOT sleeping in the box.

Boxthree6

They're good for peeping through too.

Boxthree4 Boxthree5
There's a flippy lid which you can crawl under, or dash through. You can also get a human to shut the lid on you, and then wait for a while and then BURST out of it at an opportune moment when the other human walks past. That's great fun!

Boxthree3

And also quite tasty! Nothing like a bit of extra roughage in the diet. Nom nom.

Boxthree7

So all in all, this is a great box. Probably the best of the three featured so far on our blog; although the really huge box back in February was fun, its size meant we didn't get to play with it for long. This box has already been around a couple of weeks and shows no sign of going anywhere yet. Hooray!

Scrabbling

Golly I can't believe it's been TWO WHOLE WEEKS since we last blogged. Ever so sorry about that; obviously we blame Rachel, she has been busy busy recently, and hasn't had time to help us with the typing.
The weather has taken a turn for the worse since the start of June - I thought it was supposed to be summer now? Instead it is windy, precipitating, and the mercury has plummeted. Brr. We don't like going out in the rain that much, so I've been catching up on my reading, but Mia has been getting a bit of cabin fever being cooped up so much. The other day she was just being so annoying that I just couldn't concentrate on my book (War and Peace, in case you were wondering). So I put my book aside (which took some effort, I tell you) and asked her if she fancied a game of Scrabble. Usually she'll wrinkle her nose at this suggestion but for once she was so bored that she decided to give it a go.

So we got the board out and started. Here's Mia thinking about her first go (or perhaps she's just caught a whiff of something tasty on the tiles...). We play by the PAWPADS word list which is standard for cats.

Scrabble1

It went fairly predictably, to be honest - if I may coin a phrase, I whupped her fluffy little butt. 424 points to me!

Scrabble2

And just 135 to Mia.

Scrabble3

She is definitely getting better though, last time we played she didn't get any words longer than 3 letters. She's still a terrible loser, though, have a look at the video of the game below and just see what she did at the end!
